I am very pleased with my choice of surgeons. Dr. Nusbaum is very easy going, polite and knowledgable. I went to a six month weight loss program at his St. Barnabas facility and his staff and service was extremely motivating and pleasant. Everyone there made me feel like we were a family, from the secretary, the dietician, the case managers to Dr. Nusbaum himself. My only issue was that I expected my scars to be smaller. He does make less incisions than most surgeons, so that is a plus, I just wish they were barely visible. He's very adamant about after-care. I saw him two weeks after surgery, then every month for the next three months. He also referred me to a metabolic specialist. He has tweeked the way he performs surgery in order to limit some of the risks with weightloss... [Click here for more] surgery. Overall, I would rate him a 9.5 (there is always room for improvement). I think both his surgical competence and his bedside manner are exemplary. He is the better choice.

Dr Nusbaum is very helpful, informative and patient. He has an excellent team of bariatric nurses, surgical coordinators, physical assistant, registered dieticians/nutritionists, and metabolic medicine physician. My first meeting with Dr. Nusbaum went really well. He was personable, addressed my issues and put me totally at ease. That impression has not changed. He is professional and meticulous. My surgery recovery went amazingly well due to his skill and the pain injections at the incision sites to ease the first 24 hours.rn He encourages aftercare, utilization of support groups and this website. I can't say enough positive statements about my experience. From the first time I met with Dr. Nusbaum ~ he treated me like a human being. He truly understood my issuse and explained the procedure in great detail. On the day of my surgery he had a wonderful smile and reassured me that everything will turn out well. His staff is excellent. I barely lift a finger to get approval. Thanks Wanda. I must say Dr. Nusbaum is the most warm caring physician i have ever met. I have the upmost respect for this man. He is extremely professional about what he does, explains in detail about the procedure and makes you feel more than comfortable. In my eyes he is the best. His office staff is just as warm and professional as he is. Dr. Nusbaum impressed my husband and I from the first moment he stepped into the exam room on our first visit. He was very professional, neatly dressed and came into the room and answered almost every question that I would have asked before I had the chance to ask it. My husband and I had decided to go with Dr. Nusbaum even though we had to travel over 1.5 hrs. to get to his office and we are not sorry that we did. This is long overdue, but the fact of the matter is I've been trying for months to find the words to adequately describe the overwhelmingly positive experience of my journey that was made possible by Dr. Nusbaum. I don't even know where to begin, and as a former English teacher, my being at a loss for words is quite a feat for someone to accomplish! Here we go... rnrnI first met Dr. Nusbaum in November 2007 at an informational seminar about the various weight loss surgeries he performs. His knowledge and great skill were apparent immediately, but what impressed me the most was his kind personality and compassion for people struggling with severe obesity. I knew I had found my surgeon. rnrnI made an appointment in January 2008, for Martin Luther King Day, to be exact and we decided... [Click here for more] that the Lap Band would be the most appropriate procedure for me. I started working with his insurance coordinator Wanda, who is also fantastic in her own right. The efficiency with which he manages his office is also excellent. By the end of February, I had a date scheduled for March 18. I was amazed at how quickly the process progressed! Dr. Nusbaum is a rare combination of great surgeon, compassionate person and smart businessman.rnrnAfter the surgery, he gave me his cell phone number to call with any questions or issues. I called a couple of times and he returned my calls the same day. rnrnScheduling fills and the occasional emergency unfill is also very easy. I had a couple occasions where I had to have some fluid removed from my band and I was able to squeeze in the same day I called. That's great service! rnrnI usually pride myself on being able to succinctly "tell it like it is," but it's tough to do that when there are so many important points to address. All I can say is I am thrilled with my decision to take control of my life back and I have Dr. Nusbaum to thank for getting the ball rolling for me. Two thumbs way up!!!

I made an appointment with Dr. Nussbaum. I found rnhim professional and thorough. However, that appointment was in October and I haven't heard anything yet. I believe I have been more than patient, so I've been 'rattling cages' the last few days...rnrn3/04/04rnI have been appealing the lap band procedure with my insurance company and now have approval for coverage. Today I called Dr. Nusbaum's office and was told he no longer carries that insurance since January. I am severely disappointed since all his correspondence was part of my appeal. rnrn3/19/04rnGood news! Even though my first surgeon is out of network... there is an associate in the same group that takes my insurance.I'm back on track! (Just have some final tests before my surgery date.)
