Dr. Stephan is a true professional. He is quiet and reserved, but easy to interact with. He and his office staff Cindy and Veronica are the best! I am an RN and have been an RN over 20 years and seen some medical office staff persons with some poor people skills. But, not here, they attend to your every need. Their staff talk about every aspect of the Lap Band surgery and provide you with meaningful informative things that will assist you if you adhere to them pre-op on into the post op stage. Cindy discussed the risks/advantages/possible complications in detail over and over with me, so that I could made the best possible informed decision for myself. His office has a peaceful atmosphere and there is no overcrowding like I noted at another physician's office-Dr. Wade Barker. I would... As a nurse, most of us are watchful in regards to our care and I would entrust this surgeon with all aspects of my care. My lap band surgery is scheduled for May 1, 2008. The staff worked efficiently with Tricare Prime, my insurer and facilitated a quick reply and surgical date.

I was first working with Dr. Wade Barker. He left the practice and I ended up with Dr. Stephan by default. I don't have anything bad to say about Dr. Stephan. I will update this after my surgery. Posted on 02/11/2006 |

I had my lapband surgery on 12/9/05. Dr. Stephan is a wonderful surgeon. He has a quite personality, but is very businesslike and takes his job seriously, which is good since this surgery is a major step that your taking. His office staff is the best in the world!! Cindy and Dana made me feel very comfortable and they were wonderful every step of the way. They are great about answering questions and I know I have called them many times with questions (some I'm sure were silly-Ha). I truly believe that it is just as important to choose a doctor with a good staff as it is for the doctor to be excellent. I talked to several doctors before deciding to go with Dr. Stephan and I have no regrets. He knows what he's doing and I felt 100% confident in his work. They do have an aftercare program,... [Click here for more] however, I live 3 hours away so I have not attended. He does not require you to attend aftercare. I rate Dr. Stephan and his staff a 10!! I highly recommend him.

Dr. Stephan seemed to be a man of few words he was very short sweet and to the point. Which I did not mind really. he is the type in my opion to be honest and straight forwrd no beating around the bush! His office staff was top notch they are some of the sweetest and kind women I have ever meet especaily in the medical feild. He did not seem to have much after care other than maitaing the diet the dieatician has laid out for you. I would definetly recommend him to a friend or family member. Posted on 08/17/2005 |

Dr Stephan is the best deal in town. Bottom line, I think we are all looking for the best price for the best quality and quality in this instance is of utmost importance. Dr Stephan does not inflate the price of the LapBand surgery but has excellent credentials and I personally have had absolutely no issues. The Dr. personally administers fills as well as discusses with you what is going on in regard to the band. These days it is a rare occurrance to feel welcomed in the hurried world of the medical profession but his staff does their best to make you feel comfortable and wanted while in his office and on the phone. I am partial to Dana -super nice. I have never felt embarrassed or defeated working with any of them. I would recommend this surgeon and his staff to anyone. If you do... I first met Dr. Stephen last year at one of his free seminars on wls. He seemed very down to business and serious about the process and he wanted to make sure anyone considering wls to be serious also. My friend who went with me went onto the rest of the process and I was waiting to find out about insurance. So I was still involved through her and now have had my surgery also. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to cut to the chase and not be filled with a lot of the same information over and over again, but in a different package. He tells it like it is.
His office staff has been wonderful. I know I have called so many times with guestions that they should be tired of me, but they are always friendly and patient with me.
I would say to future patients to have a... [Click here for more] list of questions you want answered when you have your appointment/consultation. There were things that I had to call back on that I forgot to ask about. Since this is getting to be a popular surgery, every doctor is going to be getting busier and you really need to have all of your questions answered.
The instructions given by the office and the hospital and a lap band company all have discripencies. I would say the aftercare program as well as the pre-op instructions could be more clear. I think the instructions should be so clear that a 5 year old would know exactly what to do, because this is is first time a patient has gone through this and the doctor and staff have done it a "million" times that I think some of the information to them seems like common sense.
The risks of the surgery were gone over several times with the doctor and the hospital.
I would rate Dr. Stephenan a 10 on surgical competence and a 5 on "bedside manner". Like I said before he is an all business doctor - but that is what I like. I don't think he really needs to have a lot of bedside manner for a day surgery either.

Dr. Stephen appeared very knowledgable about the Lap Band. I became very comfortable with telling him about my minor problems with ajusting to the Lap Band.Since the first day I met Dr. Stephen and his staff they have been very nice and supportive. I can't really say that there is anything about Dr. Stephen I don't like. He has performed his job very professionally and has answered my questions. Dr. Stephen future patients must know the he knows his job and they can rest assure that they would be very pleased with the end results. The after care program, in my opinion, need some improvement. I was preped over and over about the risk of the surgery and reassured that Dr. Stephen would take good care of me.
I would rate Dr. Stephen surgical competence to be a 10. Ten being the highest.... [Click here for more] I like his surgical competency better than his bedside manner. But, there is nothing wrong with his bedside manner. He is just very serious about his work.

I loved Dr. Stephan and all the ladies in his office starting with my very first visit. From my experience, Dr. Stephan and his staff sincerely care about their patients, and you cant find that very often anymore in the medical field. I HAVE NOTHING BUT PRAISE FOR DR. STEPHAN. In 5 months I have lost almost 55 pounds, and have only had 1 adjustment. I have more energy, I smile again, and best of all I went from a size 18 to a size 10. Dr. Stephan has a support group that meets once a month, but I've never went b/c i get enough support from family and friends. Plus anytime I have a quick question, I call the office and they always have the answer for me. On a scale from 1-10.. I give Dr. Stephan a BIG 10 and his staff. They are all WONDERFUL. I recommend Dr. Stephan to everyone... [Click here for more] I know. I have so much FAITH in him...
