Dr. Neil Floch and his group, Fairfield County Bariatrics, have been the utmost of professional. I have been extremely satisfied, and grateful, for the excellent treatment I've received. Dr. Floch made me feel very comfortable and confident in his surgical competence, while patiently answering my questions and allaying my fears, which has meant a great deal to me. His P.A., Danielle, Demarco, has essentially taken over my aftercare and collaborates with the MD as needed. I have always felt that I'm in good hands. The office staff have been very responsive, from taking care of all surgery authorization to scheduling a same-day appointment in an emergency. The group has done a fabulous job of patient education as well as provided ample opportunities for support pre and post-op.... [Click here for more] I honestly do not have any aspect in which I have been dissatisfied with my over all treatment, from pre-op to the present. With the Lap Band, having lost over 100 lbs. in the first year post-op, I just have to say, Thank you Dr. Floch for changing my life!

My first impression of Dr. Neil Floch was that he is a kind, caring and compassionate individual. That impression increased over time, and was enhanced by his dedication to his patients and their well-being, before, immediately after and long after surgery. He is careful and methodical in his medical techniques and has a thoughtful bedside manner. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr Neil Floch and his associates, Dr Tim Erlich, Dr Craig Floch and their entire team of professionals in the Fairfield County Bariatric practice. I would rate them all 10/10.
Future patients of this physician and his associates should feel comfortable and well prepared by them regarding the risks and benefits of weight loss surgery.
The aftercare program is excellent. They provide a minimum... [Click here for more] of 2 support group meetings per month, and send out frequent communications via email regarding meetings, seminars, etc.
I have nothing negative to say about Dr Floch and my review should not be suspect in any way. Afterall, these are my opinions, and I am most happy to report them.

I just wrote a tome about my surgeon and inadvertantly erased it. Here goes again. I am an odd duck in that I had a by-pass three and half years ago and everything that could go wrong did go wrong - except that I didn't die and I have my surgeon to thank for that. I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months, 7 weeks in ICU. And I would do it all again in a heart beat. Neil Floch is compassionate, skilled, honest, and I truly feel I owe my life to him for two reasons. First of all, he was on top of all the things that were happening to me. I had four surgeries-one was minor- and through it all he was there for me - giving us the information we needed. advising us as to risks etc.
My first impression of him was that of compassion and that he didn't have the usual doctor's negativity... [Click here for more] for fat people. It was us working on the problem. Always he emphasized that this was a tool, that there was hard work to be done afterwards (and he was right). My first impression was right on. He never failed me. And if I ever have to have surgery again, it will be he who does it.
His staff was great - helpful - especially with the insurance stuff.
Yes, he has a structured aftercare program, but because I was in the hospital so long and then had a long recuperative period, I can't say much about it. I do know that the person who ran it was enormously helpful to me on a one to one basis after I was back in the swing of things and dealing with the food issues.
The risks were spelled out. I knew I could die. I knew there were other risks. The risk on having to live my life the way I was scared me far more.
I would give him a 10 out of 10.
Again I think he is a highly skilled surgeon with an incredible compassionate attitude toward his patients. He likes us.
Just to qualify what I've said, I lost 130 lbs, am no longer diabetic, no longer have sleep apnea, no longer hypertensive. I'm still a foodie, but won't go back to where I was so miserable.

I could not have picked a better surgeon that Dr. Neil Floch. He not only is an excellent surgeion, but you can not find a man with a bigger, more caring heart. I am so impresses with the lengths Dr. Neil will go to, to make sure that you are doing well and that everything is going well for you and with you. It makes me feel so good to know in my heart that I am not just a number, not just a way of earning money, but that to Dr. Neil I am a human being with needs that he truly cares about. He so wants be to be healthy and thin and happy. I would recomend that anyone thinking of going through bariatric surgery, look no further than Dr. Neil Floch.

Dr. Floch had performed my Gallbladder surgery in 2001, when I found out that he did Bariatric surgery I was thrilled. I did my research with my diabetes doctor and my pcp both of whom said he was the best in the State. Next thing you know I'm having an appointment with him, feeling safe and supported by him and his staff.
The St. Vincent Bariatric Center is very thorough with their pre-testing and there are a lot but so worth it. You actually find out how healthy you are and then by having the surgery how much healthier you will be. I no longer have high blood pressure and my diabetes has deminished and that is only 4 weeks after surgery!
His staff is wonderful very caring about each patient. They help you decide which procedure is right for you if you don't know.... [Click here for more] In rating him it would be a 15 out of 10.

*My first impression of Dr. Floch was that he is a truly caring human being. I feel myself light up whenever I see him. He is also extremely knowledgeable and talented.
*My impression of him hasn't changed over time. He remained compassionate, capable, and caring.
*There isn't a thing I don't like about him, I am truly lucky to have been introduced to his practice.
*Future patients should know that this group is really amazing. Every single person in his practice is on the ball. They all seem to be in sync with eachother and they seem to all share the same philosophies. They really put their patients up on a pedestal.
*Aftercare is always carefully reviewed. Verbally and sometimes also in writing.
*Surgical risks were discussed orally and were reiterated in writing.
*I would... [Click here for more] give a very high rating to this surgeon and his proup.
*His surgical competence and bedside manner are equally impressive.

Dr. Floch has been a great influence on me through the whole process. He genuinely cares about your success through this whole life changing experience. He helped me through an extremely difficult period before my surgery and help motivate me to keep everything on the path to success. I would recommend anyone in the Tri-State area that wishes to take this major step to stop down and speak with him or his brother or Dr. Ehrlich. Posted on 03/23/2006 |

I had attended information sessions at a couple of other places before I went to the one that Dr. Neil Floch did at Norwalk Hospital. This was different right away.
Other places felt like an Amway meeting. It was all about signing me up and answering questions later. The presentations were not professional and usually done by an assistant to an assistant. They could answer very few questions that was not already in the handout.
Upon arrival at Norwalk, I was welcomed by someone who made eye contact. I was told there were informational folders available that I could take if I was interested, versus having a stack of forms shoved at me and told to fill them out.
I liked that one of the surgeons was giving the session. The presentation was professional and was detailed.... [Click here for more] He even had some video of a lapband being put into place.
At the initial consultation, everyone that I met was great. They go over the details with you as if you were the only person they were seeing that day. That included Dr. Floch.
They emphasize aftercare a great deal. In fact, one year of aftercare is included in the price, because they want to ensure that it is done.
I like the whole approach that they take. It is not just about getting the surgery done and then I am on my own.
I am not one who is easily impressed, but so far I have not encountered anything negative to report. It is still early in the process of course.
I am now in the process of seeing the other doctors he referred me to. Once that has been completed, I hope to obtain a surgery date.
7/4/2005 Update:
I have a surgery date of 7/12/2005 set. I have been to see the myriad of doctors that were required. I am pretty persnickity about my health care providers and was not looking forward to a slew of folks that I did not select. However, they were all fantastic! I could not have done better myself. I had my pre-op appointment with Dr. Floch last week. What I continue to like about him and his team (in no particular order):
1) they are candid and up front
2) they are respectful
3) they have a sense of humor

Dr. Neil Floch is a very kind man. From the day I met him I knew he was the one I wanted to perform my surgery. I showed up at one of his seminars with a HUGE list of questions. After the meeting he took some time and sat down with me to answer ALL of my questions and to address my concerns.
His staff is very sweet as well. At first I had a tiny issue with faxes being received and handled but that was taken care by Danielle. She is super sweet too! All of the women I have spoken to from that office are all very sweet.
Dr. Floch made me feel comfortable in his office. So many other Dr.'s out there treat the "Obese" in a rather negative manner. Dr.Floch is the complete opposite. I felt at ease talking to him and his sense of humor helped me feel less afraid as well.I am happy to recommend... [Click here for more] him to ANYBODY out there considering W.L.S.

I researched LAP-Band surgery for almost 2 years. As a RN, I am very particular as to what I want/dont want. When I attended the seminar at which Dr. Neil Floch presented the information, I knew immediately that he was the surgeon for me. He is sincere, understanding, respectful, gracious, extraordinary, outgoing, kind, caring, and compassionate. His office staff is understanding, helpful, and make you feel at ease. I recommend and will continue to recommend Dr. Floch to everyone who is interested in gastric LAP band surgery. Dr. Floch addressed the risks/benefits of all the bariatric surgeries. I think that surgical competence is of greatest importance, but bedside manner is important too...one has to feel comfortable with their surgeon...Dr. Floch is "one of a kind"...I trust... [Click here for more] him completely!!
