When I first met Dr. Macik, my impressions were "wow, he is pretty quiet and laid back." What I liked about him, however, was the fact that he took the time to answer all of my questions and reassure me that for the most part, things would be fine. I feel like I have gotten more of a sense of who he is as a result of attending his support meetings. I find him to be a very kind and supportive person who seems to really care about his patients. I also love his dry sense of humor. He keeps me laughing which I love! I also love Dr. Macik's office staff. Tiffany has been so helpful (and patient) with me when I have called to ask her yet another question.    Posted on 11/16/2008

Before surgery: I've only met with Dr. Macik once, but my overall impression is that he is very dedicated to helping those of us who have weight related issues. His nutritionist is great. I met with her for my consult and she went over diet plans and nutrition information that I will need to follow for life. 2+ years out: I still think Dr. Macik is a very good surgeon, but his bedside manner leaves a bit to be desired. He has been very aggressive with my fills (1.00 cc each time) and I was too tight each time by .5cc. He told me I probably have a slip because a .5cc fill/unfill shouldn't make a noticable difference. I disagree and am seeking a second opinion just to be sure.    Posted on 07/30/2008

I met Dr. Macik and liked him a lot!!! A lot of people say he does not have any good bedside manners, well... I have to totally disagree with that statement! Dr. Macik was VERY pleasant to speak with, confident and with a positive attitude. His satff is very nice too. I am very confident that Dr. Macik is the right surgeon for me!!*** UPDATE: I am now just waiting for the BIG day!!! June 25th, 2008!!! UPDATE: I am 4 weeks out, I feel great and I am still waiting for a "bad day"!!! Dr. Macik is the best out there, if you have not chosen your surgeon, don't think twice!!! I had no complications whatsoever, NO PAIN, nothing!!! His staff is great, every one is very nice and always there for you, very supportive, I am not surprised Dr. Macik has the qualification of a "Center of... [Click here for more]

My first impression of Dr. Macik was that he is real genuine. The staff was nice and friendly. He seemed very honest and was very open to all of my questions. He let me know about the long term effects of the procedure as well as the after care. Having a great bedside manner is a good plus but I'd rather have a surgical competence if I had to choose between the two. The ultimate choice would be, however, to have both!    Posted on 05/14/2008

I met Dr. Macik for the first time january 22,2008 for my first office visit, I spend more time trying to get to his office than I spent face to face with him. He seemed really dry and withdrawn a little. I was like this guy will have my life in his hands and he's not talking to me much. I really concerned initially, But I realized that I would much rather have a competent surgeon than a physician who talked a lot. However what I have come to realize is that he's a very skillful surgeon with a quiet manner almost shy even. At my pre op appointment he was a little more open and I felt more confident. He's a man of few words but very skillful and compentent in his ability. Another co worker had him as her surgeon 3months prior and she looks great, Now since my surgery, I have... Dr Macik is an awesome surgeon. I have had NO problems since surgery. My experience after surgery was pretty uneventful. Dr M is a little dry in his approach but he's approachable and will answer any and all questions you ask him. His office staff is great, his nurse is always available to ask questions of and his office admin, Tiffany, gets the job done when submitting the paperwork. Make sure you know what your insurance company will require before approving WLS, mine required a 6 month documented diet and Dr M's office staff didn't know that. I found out when I was not given an approval. So do your own Insurance Company research and know what YOUR company requires.    Posted on 03/18/2008

He was very brief and to the point, however I am not sure if he took my questions seriously. Only time will tell how everything works out. One good thing for me is that he was willing to take me as a patient eventhoug I am from out of state and he will not be my follow up physician. His office staff is wonderful, very friendly and active im my fight with the insurance company.    Posted on 01/01/2008
