i had a good first impression so far. i will meet with him again soon. i haven't really had to deal with his office staff too much yet. i have only dealt with his PA Kristyn and she has been wonderful to me. but i will keep you updated on the rest of the staff. i can't really say there was anything ididn't like. none of us like waiting, but of cause we are not their only patients. i had to wait a while to be see on my first visit but he was just as patient with me when he finally got to me. his experience showed and he was very thorough with explaining the surgery procedure. it has been a good experience so far. i will let you know more as i go along. surgery date is feb 4th 2008.
post-op 3 weeks. i feel very good. dont really have any complications. Posted on 02/19/2008 |

Dr. Gorecki's staff is so polite and really informative. I am happy I decided to go with NYM. He seems to be really sensitive.
On the day of surgery, Dr. Gorecki and his staff comforted me and calmed my nerves. The surgery went well. I would say that both his bedside maner and surgical competence are great. Posted on 01/10/2008 |

Dr. Gorecki was great. His staff on the other hand wasn't. His secretarty Jessie, kept telling me I shouldn't waste my time because my insurance would never approve me. Sure enough they did without any problems. There are many tests you have to complete before surgery and Jessie wasn't very helpful with anything at all. The nurses in the office were very helpful, they were there to answer any questions or concerns anyone has. I would definetly recommend Dr. Gorecki to anyone who is thinking of surgery; he's a great surgeon and is very caring and sympathetic. Posted on 08/19/2007 |

I was very impressed when I first met Dr. Gorecki. He was very professional and very knowledgeable on this WLS procedure. He told me of the 2 options he could do to help me. One was gastric bypass and the other was lap banding. I told him I needed time to think about it.
When I asked him questions he was very honest. He thought that my diabetes would improve and I would be able to get off of most of the medications I was taking.
He put me through alot of tests which took time but I knew it would be worth it.
I truly believed that this procedure saved my life.I finally decided on GASTRIC BYPASS.
THANK YOU DR. GORECKI. Posted on 01/20/2007 |

Dr. Piort Gorecki is a wonderful person. I found him via the internet and made the appointment and it turned out that he was a friend of mine surgeon. She also said great things about him. He is patient, kind adn very busy. Lawd, but he will make you wait when you go to his office but it is worht the wait. Many people speak highly of him. He is the Chief of Laproscopic surgery at New York Methodist Hospital.
He really emphasizes the testing done before surgey. He doesn't delude you into anything regarding the outcome of the surgey, what to expect and/or the pain. He emphasizes the support groups and really makes it mandatory. You also have to sign an agreement with him making sure you commit to the dietary requirements that this surgery mandates and all of the trappings that... [Click here for more] go with it. Dr. Goreck also have you take a test where you must pass it to make sure you understand the bariatric life before and after surgery.
I will update once I have the surgery for bedside manners and more.

I was recommended by another member to try this surgeon so
after my PCP consultation i plan to schedule an appointment for
my first Pre-op consultation. I also considered Dr. Elliot Goodman
of the Bronx, NY, but he seems to be a very busy Dr. that only works
out of that office 1 day a week not a good chance of even
getting an appointment with him this YEAR! I
think i will stick with Dr. Gagner but i will up
date and let you know. Later!
As of now, 8/21/04, I have decided on a surgeon. Dr. Piotr Gorecki, of New York Methodist Hospital. He comes highly recommended in the field from collegues and patients he was really warm and kept asking if I had any questions for him. I felt really comfortable with him. Since meeting for my initial consultation on 8/4/04 I have... [Click here for more] had some of the pre-op testing done. I ran into a little hitch, I changed my insurance since I didn't like the co-pay of $20 for normal PCP visits and I ended up extending my surgery time since I had to redo everthing (testing/approval) with my new insurer HIP-Prime. But it was all worth it HIP-Prime was quick and painless no complaints from me. I have scheduled an appointment for surgery for November 7, 2005.11/17/05 Thank You Dr. Gorecki you are so Wonderful!

When Dr. Gorecki walked in the exam room, the only thought in my head was "Awww...he's so cute!" He's young and down to Earth and has no problem telling how it is. He is not one of those doctors that will butter you up in order to have you come in and he can make a few bucks. He is brutally honest and just absolutely wonderful. My first impression is the same as how I feel about him now. He is just a wonderful man. His office staff is the same way. They are very knowledgable of the surgeries, as they should be, and also very honest. I am sure he makes sure of this. His pre and post-op programs are extremely structured. he will make sure that you are at support group meetings and understand everything that is going on. He addresses the risks of surgery over and over again,... [Click here for more] but makes you understand that the benefits far outweigh the risks in the longrun. On my morning of surgery, while lying on the operating table waiting for the anesthesia to be started, I said to him, "You better not mess up!" He rubbed my cheek and told me not to worry, I would be fine. And, besides a few bumps in the road that had nothing to do with him, I am great! Everything about Dr. Gorecki is wonderful, and I really have no complaints thus far! My post-op appointments have been absolutely wonderful with him. The nurses were running a little bit late with the patients so he called me into his office to chat for a bit until they were ready for me. I couldn't have picked a better surgeon, and I highly recommend him to anyone who is considering bariatric surgery!

I met Dr Gorecki a few years back when I went to his office with a friend who was considering surgery.
When I decided this year to have the surgery I knew exactly where to go. I thought that he had an excellent bed side manner - he took his time to explain the different techniques. Talked about how many surgeries his team has performed and seems very knowledgeable.
Told me of the various benefits as well as the risks of having surgery.
His PA Rachael and his assistant Jesse are both very nice and patient. They are always willing to help and answer questions.
I felt even more confident and reassured when I left the office. Posted on 05/31/2005 |
