I meet my surgeon for the first time when I had to have an Endoscopey done. He was an absolute dream. He and his staff are great. I have a great belief that he was the doctor I should have choosen the fisrt time. He gave me all of the risk that are involed with having this surgery and the risks involed for me. I have had numerous other surgeries in the past and he just laid it on the line for me. I can not wait to get my surgery done on the nov. 18, 08. Posted on 11/16/2008 |

Dr. Robert Marvin is wonderful. He is a very nice and exceptional sweet person. The office staff is so incredible, they are helpful, knowledgeable, compassionate, friendly and the totally "ROCK"! Dr. Marvin, throughly explained the procedure from the beginnning to the end, he answered questions, that I had written down to ask him after we finished the consultation. He takes his time and explains the entire process to you, he really pays attention to your body language because he ask if you understand totally and if there is any area that you may need him to talk extensively on, he will do just that. He stresses throughout the conversation and in his seminars how important it is to change your old eating habits and to chew, chew, chew, chew your food. He also tells you the facts, that... [Click here for more] you have to do your part in order for this to work, he doesn't hind or sugar-coat the process and the outcome of any of the procedures he does for weightloss. He is very, very through, he explained that there are risks to any surgery; he gives you his stats and tons of information. On the day of the surgery, he re-explained everything that was going to take place the day of surgery, what to expect when you go home, the week after surgery and leading up to when you see him for your 1 week follow-up office visit. On a scale of 1 to 10, Dr. Marvin is an 11. His surgical competence and beside manner are both great.

doctor marvin was great!!! he changed my life and i thank him he was the second doctor i went to the first told me to lose 50 lbs or he wouldnt do it but when i went to doctor marvin he told me he could do the bypass and it wouldnt be hard at all and not a big risk and so it was done a few weeks later i had my surgery and no issues at all and its been almost 2 years on the 27th of dec. UPDATE:
Have had my first fill this week. Megan, the NP, is absolutely FANTASTIC. I could not have asked for a better surgeon or nurse practioner for surgery and follow-up!
5/15/2008: I really liked Dr. Marvin. He was very knowledgable and helpful during my initial visits, making sure I know everything I needed to know about Lap-Band. I would have liked to have had more information on support groups and the psycholigical impacts of the surgery, though I really knew what I wanted and was well-informed from my own research.
I feel Dr. Marvin's staff was pretty good, they were very responsive to phone calls and messages. The only thing I did not like was that the staff really wanted me to have surgery at a particular hospital, which was not covered by my insurance. The staff also... [Click here for more] told me they did not think my insurance would cover the surgery because I did not have 5 years of a BMI of over 40 and had me really upset for nothing, my insurance approved with absolutley no problem at all because my company's policy is so good regarding obesity surgery.
Very adamant about follow up care for after surgery checkups and fills.
Dr. Marvin was very up front about complications.
I would rate Dr. Marvin and his staff as 9.5 out of 10.
These are all my opinions and others may have a different opinion.

Dr. marvin and his staff were wonderful. i had my surgery in July of 2006. I am very pleased with the results. i have lost 100 lbs. and have maintained the weight for almost a year now. Aftercare of the surgery was emphasized greatly. I was fully aware of all the risks of surgery before going into it. The only problem I had from the surgery was the air pocket that settled in my shoulder. That was more painful than the surgery itself. After taking Gas-X and moving around quite a bit, it finally went away and everything was back to normal. If I had to do it all over again, i would do it without a doubt. My husband had the surgery under Dr. marvin's care also and he has had great results. Overall. I Love Dr. martin and his staff.
The Lap band surgery has given me a new life. I can go... [Click here for more] into the store and actually have problems finding clothes that are small enough for me now. Emagine that. WOW!!! It is GREAT!!! Thanks Dr. Marvin.

Dr. Marvin is great! I met him on my 37th birthday...one week before my sugery. He answered all questions that I had before I had a chance to ask them. I felt that he was very thourough during the visit and after my surgery...well, I think he is the SURGEON CHAMP!!! Thank you Dr. Marvin for saving my life!

My WLS surgeon is Dr. Robert Marvin in Houston, TX. At my pre-op appointment, he was awesome. He took plenty of time to inform me of what to expect and what to watch for. He answered all my questions with out rushing. He is very knowledgable and competent. My appointment confirmed why I want Dr. Marvin as my surgeon. His office staff are also awesome. Every time I have come into the office or called, they have all been very kind. The waiting time is also very short.
