I like Dr.Byrne very much. He is very intelligent, articulate and detailed. He does a fabulous job with explaining the procedure and all possibilies surrounding it. He is clearly impressed by my progress, and cares about nutrition and aftercare. His staff and dietician are very resourseful and helful also. Dr. Byrne actually assisted my primary surgeon, Dr. Rana C. Pullatt. From my first appointment with my surgeon to the day I was discharged from the hospital, I saw both Dr. Byrne and Dr. Pullatt. I was greatly relieved when told that Dr. Byrne would be assisting and that he has 17 years experience with these surgeries as well as general surgery. I felt confident that if something went wrong, he could address the issue competently. Because he was providing assistance, I was pleasantly surprised to see him as often as I did. If a prospective patient has a lot of anxiety about the surgery, I strongly suggest you choose Dr. Byrne to be your primary surgeon. I was definitely relieved having him on board, even though Dr. Pullatt is just as capable. Personally, I think both his surgical... [Click here for more] competence and bedside manor are great. He seemed to pick up on the fact that I use humor to ease my anxiety and he worked with that. I honestly cannot think of anything negative in my experience with Dr. Byrne.

I was very impressed when meeting with Dr, Byrne's this past week. He is a very nice person, but that is not as important to as the fact of he wasn't scared to give his take on things even if they were not what I really wanted.
The entire staff @ M.U.S.C has been very nice and welcoming. They are friendly and always have a smile.

Dr. Byrne was wonderful. He was very through in explaining the procedure and what you can expect before and after surgery. He doesn't mince words, but tells it like it is, which I really appreciate. His office staff was very helpful in getting all my information together and sending it to the insurance company. They were always very patient and understanding if I called with a question about something. If they didn't have an answer right then, they got the answer and got back to me as quickly as possible. I am pleased with my Doctor and every one of His staff from Diane to the Dieticians. They have all been ready and able to answer and offer a solution to my concerns. This surgery is scarey and is a life altering surgery, but it is one I would do again if I had to. I want to thank all at MUSC for the super care pre and post op. Posted on 07/13/2008 |

I like Dr Bynes because he is very straight forward. He doesnt pussy foot around anything. I have like him since i met him two years ago. His staff I feel is the beat. They really care. They continue to help you and push you forward. Its all about the encouragement. He is an excellent surgeon. He is very strict but truely does care. He wants you to suceed. I first say Dr. Byrne when he spoke at the information meeting I attended and I whispered to my husband that he was the doctor that I would choose if I elected to have the surgery.
After many weeks of paperwork going back and forth, the doctor that was chosen FOR ME, because I didn't have the opportunity to make that decision, was Dr. Byrne! That was another confirmation by God that I was making the right decision to have the surgery!
Dr. Byrne and his staff answer any questions that you might have and I would recommend him to anyone lucky enough to get him.
His surgical competence and bedside manner

i woould describe dr. byrne as a Dr. who is in this industry to really help people andto make a difference, however he is very a matter of fact no b'sing, this is tool the rest is up to me. the staff are great, always in contact even if I had a silly question, During one of our conversations I blurted out that I was terrified of this procedure, after a lenghthy discusion she assured me everything would be fine. I would overall rate Dr. Byrne and his staff as excellent. He gave me as much time as I needed to ask questions and was totally up front with the facts.
