I heard Dr. Overcash was the best in Florida but his bedside manner was blunt. I am blunt, so that is fine with me. It took a while to get an appointment. There were a lot of hoops to jump through that cost me a great deal of money. My Internist is NOT cooperating and is slow to meet my needs, as she is worried the revision will compromise my aging bones and that I will be on nutritional suppliments the rest of my life. I just had the chemical heart scan. His office staff have NOT been really helpful in fighting Blue Cross/Blue Shield with me, as I am in the appeal process with them. There is NO revision perameters in my handbook and the book is antiquated. Posted on 11/07/2008 |

I met with Dr. Overcash the first time last Friday. I was surprised when I was called to the back and a friendly guy in scrubs took me back to weigh me. I thought it was the nurse but surprise, it was Dr. Overcash. Very friendly. He weighed me, gave me the good, bad, etc. One thing I appreciated was that he discussed the types of surgeries, asked what I was interested in and WHY. He also didn't sugar coat...he told me what the bad was...what could happen. While I had done a lot of research, I appreciated that he was upfront. I then met with Madeline regarding insurance and again, I was really comfortable. She was very familiar with my insurance and told me that many times they will give the approval over the phone. Cool! She said the office would call the insurance company... [Click here for more] on Monday and that I could know on Monday if approved. Talk about fast, first consult on Friday and approval possible on Monday. While I don't have an approval yet, or have had surgery, so far, I really liked what I have seen. A friend referred him and I drove 5 hours to see Dr. Overcash. I think that it was well worth it.

Well, I met Dr. Overcash on July 31st. I had my consult for my revision from the vbg to the bypass. He is very straight forward, but was personable with my husband and I. He answered my questions as well as talked to me about the revision and risks. I truly enjoyed meeting him. Patrice was so sweet and kind. The whole process went smooth and well. I rate this man a 10 plus. He really knows what he is doing.( I ended up having complications and Dr. Overcash saved me. I new the risks but didn't think the 2% risk would happen too me but it did... be aware of complications) I also have refered many people that have come to me asking about a doctor for revision. The Doctor is Dr. Overcash. Thank you Doctor Overcash.

My sister and I first met with Dr. Overcash at the same time. We are having our surgeries the same day. I am the oldest and she is the baby in our family. We both felt very comfortable with him. He spent about an hour talking with us and gave us his opinion about the best procedure for us. I liked him immediately because he was not judgmental, just professional and respectful. He seemed genuine and caring. Posted on 05/23/2008 |

I went the other day for my initial visit with the surgeon. He was very blunt and to the point. I like that. I know he wont be one of those who will try to make me laugh when I hurt and fall short. He told me like it was. But I still liked him. He came over as a well versed surgeon who knew what he was doing. I hope I continue to hold the same feelings toward him. Posted on 05/21/2008 |

He did call me back himself , weighed me and then took me into a exam room. Overall I was impressed with Dr. Overcash. He was personable enough for me- we talked about the Carolinas where we both are from and he is familiar with my home town, etc. I have scrubbed in on a friends surgery so I did not have very many questions but he answered any that I had. He told me what my statistics were but did not try to over emphasize the risks. My friends sugery took 3.5 hrs so I am very impressed with my estimated 30 min procedure. I hope everything that I have read and heard about Dr. Overcash is true. If so I believe I am in good hands. I am like many others--I do not need him to hold my hand, I need him to do a good job. If he is short on bedside manner I can survive just fine. Posted on 04/29/2008 |

This review is sooo long overdue. I resrached for 6 months before choosing a consult with Overcash. Then I traveled 3 hours to get to his office. He is & was the the right Surgeon for my RNY surgery. He is AMAZING. To the point - sharp, skilled and on traget. Your safety is his first priority, your being an"informed patient' is his other priority.
Unless you are overly sensative - there are NO ISSUES with bedside manner - personality etc.. He s your Surgeon, not your mother orbest friend. Let him DO what he does best. Let him ADVISE you - as to which surgery type is best for you and his skills. Take his advise you will not regret it. Follow all orders to the "T"...they know what their doing. If you test the waters - you will soon realize "your wrong" their right.... [Click here for more] I am 13 months out -from my surgery date. The experience was amazing - I would drive to CA. if I had to for follow ups with Dr. O. He is one of the top bariatric surgeon in the state. Your in good hands --all surgery is a risk. dont let it frek you out.. Stay strong and determined, your in for a real breakthru with the very best surgeon. Cath Hazzard - Palm Bay, FL.
PS..I went in to the consult with the idea of LAP- gastro by. Dr. O felt THE full open surgery is best, and he explained why. It made sense to me, and was damn glad I followed his advise for the open RNY.. Seems my spleen had sort of disintergrated somewhere along my life's path, un-benounced to me and was lying uselessly on top of the stomach. Had he done the LAP gastro like I wanted, he would have had to "open me up in addition" to remove the useless spleen. Everything happens for a reason. Stay positive, hes an amazing Surgeon.

What was your first impression of him?
Seemed ok not very personable on the first visit.
How did your impression change over time?
Definately, the second visit was when I knew it had to be him to do my surgery!
What should future patients know about him/her?
He is one of the best! Also the hospital staff is awesome! Posted on 02/29/2008 |
