Dr. Schram is a great doctor and he cares about his patients! I had my RNY on Feb 9th, 2009, and I would send anyone of my friends to him. I actually met a complete stranger that was talking to me at my FCP office and I told her to go see him! He may not seem like he is listening at first, but it is NOT the case at all, he is thorough! When I went in for my 6 month post op, I was pretty worried that I had not lost enough, and he (maybe even over exaggerated, lol) that I was doing really good, and that I have lost close to what he expects to see in 9+ months. I feel so at home when I go into barix, there is a support group that meets there, and they had nurses and nutritionist on call to answer your questions, no matter how silly or what time of the day it is, and they do not make... [Click here for more] you feel silly about asking the questions. His bedside manner is awesome! I have never heard before of a surgeon who will come in to visit pre-op and pray with me and my family, but he did, and that meant a lot to me! Like I said before I would recommend him to anyone who is looking into having surgery! The only think I have to say is there is a long wait time for appointments, so bring something to do, and leave the kids with a sitter, it was hard on my kids because they were so young but they were not treated poorly, I felt that everyone understood that the little ones were bored.

5 years out from surgery and i still see Dr. Schram every year.. He and his staff do a great job making sure that my labs and great !

When I first met Dr. Schram I was comfortable right away. He made me feel safe and secure. He went over everything I needed to know about going in to surgery. On the day of surgery her came in to see me before we got started and asked if I was ok and if I had any questions or concerns. Just before he left me to go and get ready...he said a prayer! I will NEVER forget that. I have never had an experience like that. I would recommend ( and have) that anyone I know and love go to see Dr. Schram if they had questions about RNY weightloss surgery. Dr. Schram had the best bedside manner of any doctor I have ever had and I want to thank him for giving me my life back!!! Posted on 08/20/2009 |

My first impression was that I liked him and I liked the way he treated me. He answered all my questions and was patient with me. I think the surgical aftercare was fine, but the support from the nutritionist was lacking a lot. I would have liked to have been able to goto weekly meetings or biweekly meeting to weigh in or just talk about that I am doing wrong. One booklet just did not cut it for me in this department. I think this could definately be improved upon. rnrnDr. Schram did a wonderful job and I am completely happy with the surgery he performed and I think he has both surgical competence and bedside manner. Dr. Schram seems personable, knowledgeable and realistic.
I immediately felt comfortable with the program and staff. The facility effectively meets the needs of its patients, although the first floor bathroom is not fat friendly :) guess that is the "after" bathroom.
I have reservations about the lack of communication from his office, I didn't expect to be hand-held but I was concerned about the lack of communication I've received while meeting the pre-op conditions.
Fortunately I have supportive & persistent friends who continuously called on my behalf, and I finally received my surgery date. June 29, 2009!
Hopefully the lack of communication will not continue during after-care. I feel the staff my have been caught off guard by my determination, and how quickly I completed... [Click here for more] the pre-op conditions.
I still believe this is a good program with good, well trained people.

Dr Schram, along with his office staff, are professional, friendly and direct. I highly recommend him. His surgical competencies and skills are excellent. Dr Schram's bedside manner is the best I have ever seen in my nursing career. The first time I saw Dr. Kam he was rushed, he had an emergency waiting for him. What I seen was good and I thought he was thorough. So as far as judging him I can't and won't. I haven't met him and won't again until my surgery date. I have heard some great things about this Dr. I think his office staff is wonderful.. all of them and thank them for all their help so far.rnrnI saw Dr. Kam today for my after surgery check up. He is a wonderful surgeon and a very nice Dr. I really am glad I was able to have him as my dr.rnrnThank you Dr. Kam!rnrnOne more thing, I'd like to wish Dr. Kam much success in his future. I will miss him as my Dr. rnrnSince Dr. Kam left I am now using Dr. Schram at Barix.rnrnHe is great!.. he knows what I need and when.. if I ask for a tweak that's what... [Click here for more] I get.. and as far as hitting the *right spot*.. he doesn't have to poke around to find my port.. I am very happy with Dr. Schram..

He is knowledgeable and kind at my consultation.
My husband had him for surgery in July of 2008, and I was impressed that he actually prayed with him prior to surgery. It was nice.
Aftercare is important. 3 week, 6 week checkups, as well as bloodwork and lab work at 3 months, 6months, 9 months and a year. I went with my hubby for his checkups and Dr. Schram included me as family in the aftercare. He is very thorough.
I would rate him a 10 out of 10 stars. He is competent, and kind.
No negatives to share about him. I have yet to go through aftercare or surgery, that is in about 3 days! Posted on 03/27/2009 |
