MARYLAND has a new law~insurance co.must okay surgery???

I read a recent question on 6/16 and a member stated that in the State of Maryland, a new law has been passed that all insurance companies must approve obesity surgery...is this true and does that mean if you reside in Maryland or does your insurance company have to be located in Maryland? If anyone knows the answer to this PLEASE respond...I'm hoping that it's true and that you only have to reside in Maryland... I have United Health Care PPO with Pepsico and I already called my ins. co. and talked with a precert nurse through Health International and she got basic information such as my Surgeon, hospital and his phone # and I explained that it would be a revision from a surgery done in July of 1998..She told me to go to my appt. this week on the 20th and then she will call my surgeon..so hopefully i will be approved, even though there is a written exclusion in the ins. policy...Has anyone had any experience with this particular insurance co? or if anyone has the knowledge of this new law that has been passed?
