Question:
Hi! Is it a good sign that you might get

Approved with Kaiser if you Primary care doctor ordered the pre-op tests and your bmi is 50? My sister just found out that her Primary care dr. said he would submit the paper work to get her approved. Anyone else know anything about Kaiser???    — Yvonne C. (posted on May 9, 2002)

With a BMI of 50 she will eventually get approved. However Kaiser (No. Cal) takes a long time from referal from PCP to surgery. It may take as long as 12 months. Have her enter "Kaiser" in the library search to get all the info on Kaiser. You may also email me more specific questions and I gladly respond.

I agree that she will probably get approved. However, I have seen that in some places Kaiser requires more than a year of preparation and in others, it's much easier to get the surgery. Kind of like any insurance. The only way to know is to find out what her individual/group policy says about it and to call them for information.
