Question:
Does any one have any thoughts about submitting your own letter to your insurance co?

I have Bankers Life and am wondering if you should submit a letter requesting pre approval right away or see if your insurance makes a first denial. Any thoughts? Thanks.    — Pat B. (posted on October 23, 2002)

YES!! It can never hurt. There is a sample letter on this site SOMEWHERE!!!! that covers everything, lists all comorbidities and describes them in detail. I tried to find it again so I could post a link but could not. Email me and I will send you my letter that I created from this sample and you can cut and paste from it to create your own. Remember the more info the better. Good Luck!!!

Pat, I sent in all my paperwork for the first time. Yes I was denied, then again when my surgeon sent her stuff in, I sent in a whole packet with it, pictures, PCP letter, diet history, highlighted medical records, family history, lists of co morbs, obesity articles, obesity facts, anything I could get my hands on. Finally I was approved once I got to the appropriate person and she looked at it. So I think the more you keep on top of it the better off you are. GOOD LUCK!

The sample letter on this site is located under "your journey" then on the left side it says "getting Authorization" click on that and it will come up "write your letter." I used this sample to write my own, and I will be sending it in to the insurance co next week or so good luck to both of us and all who are waiting to become loosers. :0) Rosemary
