Has Anyone Ever Been Approved For WLS By Anthem BCBS??? Please Respond. Thanks!!

I have Anthem BC/BS, but I live in Colorado. You need to remember that
insurance policies differ from state to state and from one employer to
another. The only way to know if your policy will cover WLS is to read the
booklet your employer should have given you. You can also call their
customer service number. However, no matter what they tell you, tell them
you want it in writing. Mine told me over the phone that they didn't cover
it, but when I got the page they sent, it showed that they do.

I live in Richmond, VA, I have Anthem/BCBS and I got approved on the first
letter. But insurance policies do differ from state to state. Good luck!

When I was doing research on this, thinking I might need to change
insurance companies in order to do it, it seemed like Anthem BC was one
organization that consistently approved it. Check your policy, but I
think you're likely to be well covered.

I live in Ohio but have Anthem BCBS of Virginia. I was also approved the
day they received the fax from the surgeon. They told me they approve WLS
very easily if your BMI was over 40. Good luck!

I just approved this past week by Anthem. It took about 3 weeks after the
request was faxed in. We live in CO.
