Question:
My approval is good for 90 days and the waiting list is 8-10 mos has anyone had to

file for an extension or resubmit a pre-approval? I have UHC PPO and I am wondering if refiling is as stressful and as long of a process as the original. Any input is appreciated.    — laura J. (posted on May 14, 2003)

You need to call them and tell them the situation and see if you can get an extension. Talk to a supervisor not customer service.

Hi there! When I got my approval it was good for 30 days, but it took me 3 weeks to get a surgery date and the surgery date was 3 1/2 months away, so I called my insurance rep that had helped me with my approval and gave her my surgery date and told her I needed my approval extended to that date. They did it right away and sent out letters to the surgeon.

I HAD THAT HAPPEN TOO. I JUST CALLED THE INS CO & HAD THEM EXTEND THE APPROVAL DATE. IT WAS NO PROBLEM.
