Hi! I have both BCBS of NC and Medicaid. My consult with surgeon was on September 25th and I've already got a surgery date for October 29th. They actually moved up my surgery from November because my Medicaid will run out after October. I don't know if there was necessarily an "approval" process. All I know is that at this time, I will not have to pay out of pocket expenses for the actual surgery because of my coverage. My people told me that Medicaid will pay first and then BCBS. I thought it was strange too, but I'm not fighting it. I'd rather get the surgery and find out after they didn't cover instead of the other way around. If something changes I will let you know. Also, feel free to email me again when it gets closer to my date to see if anything has changed. I keep my profile updated regularly as well. Good luck!

I live in NC and medicaid paid it for me. It took 2 days to get approval. If the necessity is there, you will get approved. Having a supportive primary physician is half the battle it really is!
