Question:
Does anyone know the procedure code for Duodenal Switch?

Hi, I called United healthcare today and asked them today if my surgery was approved yet (I have been waiting 16 days now and they said it's still in review.) I at least made sure it was DS that I was waiting for and that the surgeons office didn't mistakenly submit it for RNY instead. All the insurance company rep. could give me was some code, but could not tell me what it was for (LOL) Does anyone know the procedure code insurance companies use for Duodenal Switch?? I know for my insurance and maybe it's the same for all, is 43999. Which according to Blue Cross is for bypass surgery other than RNY. Hope this helps. Linn
