Question:
Anyone work for Sprint get approved for surgery?

I have will be starting a new job at Sprint PCS in NC. Not sure what insurance they offer. Was wondering if anyone has been approved through them. Thanks- Melissa    — Melissa L. (posted on March 26, 2004)

My husband works for Sprint in KC and I am insured through him. I had open RNY in August 2003 and we had Herrington Benefits at the time (it was the self-insured offering). They paid all but $250.00 of the bill, which was $55,600.00. I believe that their CIGNA policy will give you trouble, but what you need to do is get a copy from Human Resources of the policy book. You want to look up the section under "Exclusions" and see if gastric bypass is excluded from the policy. It's going to depend on the policy that they have in effect at your location. I know that the CIGNA HMO plan did not cover the surgery, however their self-insured plan through Harrington Benefits did cover it.
