Question:
Insurance tricare or medicare plastics

I am wondering if anyone has had tricare or medicare to pay for adominoplasty and breast reduction. And what did you do to get them to pay for it.    — poppink (posted on April 8, 2005)

Hi, I just had my TT & breast lift 3 weeks ago and medicare paid for all the hospital and the TT except for co-pay which my Blue Cross covered, but I had to pay $3,000 extra to the doctor for the breast lift. It will pay for the BL if they remove 500 cc's of fat & skin from each breast, which mine did not qualify for. I did mine together so the insurance would cover all the hospital bills, but it was very rough having them done together. Expect to be totally out of commission for the first two weeks. The WLS was easier than this. I don't want to scare you, but be prepared for it and do them seperate if possible.

I have Medicare for primary and Tricare Prime for secondary insurance. I had my breast reduction on 8-4-04 and just had my TT with hernia repair on 2-7-05, and Medicare picked up the hospital bill, and Tricare Prime picked up the rest of the cost. I did not even have any co-pays. You might want to go to the plastic surgery message board and read some back post, there is alot of post about Tricare Prime.
