Question:
Has anyone used their Healthcare Flexible Benefits to be reimbursed for WLS?

Due to policy exclusions from both of my employment insurance carriers, I have decided to participate in the healthcare flexible spending account. Has anyone used this to reimburse themselves for WLS? I decided not to fight the exclusions because I want to have this surgery in Jan. 2000 and I don't want my employer involved in a dispute with the insurance co.    — [Anonymous] (posted on November 6, 1999)

I also have the option of pulling money out of my check for health care payments. Fortunately, my surgery was covered 100%, but while filling out my benefit form for next year, I see they increased the amount of maximum withholding to $5000.00. That is a good jump and if you can take benefit from it, do it. It will save you alot more money in the long run, instead of claiming it on your taxes at the end of the year. And if your plan is like mine, you can collect that 5000.00 right away in Feb if your bill comes and pay on it throughout the year out of your paycheck. Great benefit.
