Question:
Job Changes and Exclusions

I am considering changing jobs. I am currently with a self-insured carrier and had little problems with the approval process. I am concerned if I change jobs that the new carrier will exclude follow-up treatment as pre-existing or, worse, fail to pay for a complication. I'm also considering plastic surgery in the future. I am not able to get any answers from the potential employer nor directly from its carrier. Anyone have any suggestions how I can determine this? It's obviously crucial to my decision.    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on November 14, 2000)

I'm no insurance expert but I think you can carry Cobra on your own after you leave a job, even when you quit. This way you can keep your same carrier until you don't need it anymore. Check into this. Also, at the OSSG wls web site, the moderator, Nonnie, seems to be a real expert at insurance issues. You might log on there and ask her. Good luck.
