Question:
Maryland Obesity Law

I have heard that Maryland has recently pass a bill that requires insurance companies to pay for WLS. Does anyone have a link to the new law so that I can print it out and send it to my insurance company. Thanks! Dana    — Dana N. (posted on April 17, 2001)

If you get this I would be interested in knowing too.. I would like to use it as an exmample for Oregon where I live. I have written my state officials asking for help in this same arena. Holler when you get the info ok?

Hi - I did a little research and what I was able to come up with was....it is Your Senate House Bill 496....you might be able to find more out living in Maryland...I am in Ohio so other than the internet, my sources are limited. good luck, Karan

Bad News!!! The Bill was not passed I called my local senator. Some kind of budget committee is looking into it. What the HECK! So she said that the bill will be introduced again next year. Boo Hoo!!! Dana N

The State of Virginia DOES have this law, I found out. So anyone looking into a model to show their state legislatures should look for that.
