Question:
Insurance Denial with Aetna ppo. How to appeal?

I have a girlfriend who was just denied by Aetna PPO because they said that they don't think she tried enough avenues in losing weight. She is going through Bariatric Treatment Center (BTC) and they automatically appeal for you. The question is....Is there anything she can do in the meantime. Like sending Aetna a APPEAL letter HERSELF? If so, does anyone have an example appeal letter they can send me. If you have ever dealt with this insurance carrier and have information on what is the next best step for this situation. PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEASSSEEE email me. [email protected] Thanks a lot. God bless all.    — Angela A. (posted on May 14, 2001)

Aetna is an excellent insurance carrier for WLS. Does she have documented proof of previous attempts at weight loss (i.e., physician supervised diets, weight watchers, etc.)? If she does, I would send them a copy immediately. After my paperwork was submitted, they requested a diet history and after receiving my information, approved me immediately. Good Luck!
