Question:
How was your experience with bcbs hmo....how long of a wait did u have for approval?

i was just curious how long did it take u to get approved with bcbs hmo....i live in il but would love to know who long it took to be approved with any and all bcbs hmo's thanks    — [Anonymous] (posted on July 9, 2001)

Hiya.... I am in NY and insured under a BCBS HMO plan. I had absolutely no problems getting approved. Approval came through within about 2 to 3 weeks. Very quick turnaround time. I was very shocked - I expected a hassle but it was smooth sailing. I wish you luck with yours! Michelle*

I have BCBS of AL (PPO) and was approved within 3 weeks. I didn't have to submit any additional paperwork and they were very easy to work with. I called a few days after the doctors office faxed the paperwork to see if they had received it and then once a week thereafter I emailed them to see what the progress was. They were quick to respond. Good luck!!!!!

My sister put me in touch with a friend of her's who is two weeks post op. She used the same doctor and hospital that I am hoping to use. As luck would have it, she also has the EXACT same insurance plan as I do...Horizon BC/BS HMO...she said they gave her absolutely no trouble whatsoever. In fact since the doctor's staff did all of the leg work, she never even had to deal with insurance issues at all. That really gave me a boost and I hope it encourages you as well. Good Luck!

I have BCBS HMO and was denied.. that is an Oregon thing perhaps..
