Question:
Sex after wls

I was just reading a post that someone left saying that since they have had the wls they have had dumping symptoms and gas after having relations with their husband. Someone else replied that the same thing happened to them too. Is there something I need to know? Is anyone else having problems with sex? Please share. I have been approved for surgery and I need to know this information. Thanks.    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on July 12, 2009)

This is all news to me. Of course, I'm a single lady and haven't really been in the dating game since just before my surgery. While I am not saying that these problems aren't true for anyone who may have posted that they have experienced them, I'm having a difficult time understanding how sex could cause them. This is an interesting question and I'll be watching to see how others answer. Congrats on getting your approval and good luck with your surgery! You are gonna be so happy that you did this for yourself. :)

I am 3 months shy of being out 2 years from RNY and I have never had a problem with either of them during sex. I am wondering how sex could cause them..hmmm? Perhaps the movement causes the gas to move around but the gas was already there, same for the dumping, the movement could possibly cause the feeling but again I would have to assume it was already there. I'll be watching for responses as I am curious now, smile. I have to say, I've lost 136 lbs. so far and want another 40 off, but sex has never been better!!!

First of all congrats on your upcoming surgery. You will be joining us all in the "Losers Club". As far as sex....I had my RNY 2 June 2009 and about 4 weeks out began having sex with my boyfriend. Other than having to take things slow and gentle the first few times out we have never had a problem other than feeling like we are meeting for the first time again (LOL) I am not sure what is going on with the others but maybe they should consult with their surgeons on this. Just relax and enjoy your new life......

uhh, lets just say....lots of post ops experience more gas after surgery (many people at my support meetings talk about experiencing Tooteritis for many months after WLS.) Of course, I'm not talking about myself, ahemm, but a close friend of mine has realized that when you have lots of gas and you position your body in certain ways, you are much more likely to let out a "toot"...the dumping part doesn't compute.

I had gas the first year pretty bad and then started using probiotics regularly with little trouble at all now...I found that sugar and simple carbs are what give me the bad kind of gas as well as a lactose(dairy) intolerance and some cabbage-type foods...The probiotics keeps all of that in control! But I have had no trouble with sex whatsoever except now hubby wants it all the time! ANY TIME...ANY WHERE! He's relentless! It's so easy to get him to do stuff for me for nookie points now! LOL And no...no gas with sex!

I had RNY August 2008. Sex has never been better. No more trying to find a position where I don't have trouble breathing or issues with my knees or back. My drive has doubled... I think It is GREAT!!!
