Question:
DOES MY PCP HAVE TO REFER ME TO A DR. IF I HAVE CUSTOM CARE?

You would have to check your policy. If it were me I would call the insurance office and ask if you need to be referred.

Ihave CustomCare and I did have to get a referral from my PCP. It did help when I told my PCP that my ins. covered this type of surgery, and I needed a referral to be able to have it done. My PCP was very much against it, but I was persistant. Good Luck!! I'll keep you in my prayers....

Yes, if you are a member of the SBC custom care plan you will need a referral from your PCP. However that is a minor technicality. Custom care covers the surgery if your PC says it's medically necessary, and it is reall easy to call the customer service line and change your PCP to a WLS friendly one.
