Question:
TriCare success rate?

I have Tricare through my Husband, and was wondering what the success rate is or if anyone has been approved through Tricare.    — Lisa M. (posted on September 8, 2001)

I have Tricare also, and I didn't have a problem with them at all. I am in Ca. ( Ft. Irwin ), and the hospital here is very small, so Tricare actually referred me out. As for success rate, I'm only 24 days post-op. I did have a wonderful surgeon and thankfully so far no major problems. Good luck to you.

I,too, have Tricare Prime and have had no trouble getting the approval. They were very quick and willing to help. I dealt with them by phone only and as long as you stay on top of them you will have your answer quickly. I wish you luck!

I had no problem getting approved at all. After the paperwork was sent in it only took 5 days. As long as you are twice your recommended weight (I think they use the 100# for five feet then 5# an inch rule) you don't need any comorbidities. Good Luck!

Lisa, I live in Italy (Aviano,Air Base) and had surgery on June 8th. Originally my base gave me a hard time about getting it done and advised me I would have to wait until we moved back to the states. I was sent on a medivac to Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, TX at Lackland, AFB. I am now three months post-op and have lost 66 pounds to date. Keep at it and don't take no for an answer! Feel free to email me if you have any other questions. Good Luck! Ciao :)

Thank you all so much. I can't tell you what a weight has been lifted..and hopefully more...LOL. I go into to see the doc on Thursday, then everything get's sent to Tricare. I hope they are quick, as we are due to pcs out of here in December...that's my only worry to go through all of this, and then not have the time to get it done and have to go through it all, all over again. Thank You everyone for Your support! :)

I have Tri-Care Prime, but I don't think I went thru them. I just went to see my PCM on post and was sent to the surgical office and now I'm having surgery in October. The whole process maybe took less than 3 months for me to get all the pre-op tests done. I am a military widow and use the military hospital for minor things and only have to use the Tri-care if I need something they can't provide there for me on post.

Hi, I have tricare prime. I had my pcm refer me to a surgeon at the hospital. I had to wait about 1 1/2 months to see him. I could have the surgery at the end of October but my husband is deploying and wants to be here. So, I asked the doctor to wait until January. So, I get the first surgery date in January! Really easy!!!
