Question:
Anyone had duodenol switch or revision done on a failed RNY? Omaha surgeons?

I am looking at having a revision done on a failed RNY (the doctor's fault) or possibly the duodenol switch. Has anyone ever had this done? Are you glad you did it? Does anyone have a surgeon in Omaha to recommend?    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on November 13, 2007)

I didn't know you could revise a RNY. I was told once it is done it is not reversable. Why do you want it reversed?

I had a revision from a 1976 RNY to the DS Oct 17th, 2006. I've lost about 130lbs. It would've been more but I eat like a piggy sometimes. My only regret is that the DS wasn't available back then.

Hi ES, thanks for writing. I am in the Omaha area, and Cori McBride was my surgeon. She is a fabulous surgeon. I read your page, and I would trust the advice of Dr. McBride. She knows her stuff when it comes to this surgery. I am really sorry for your struggles, and I don't know the answer, but you are gonna have to trust some doctor in their advice. I advise you to trust Dr. McBrides advice to you and follow one of her options. Please don't put your life at risk for weight loss. If it is too dangerous, then you have to stop beating up your body. God is your refuge is on your site. He will see you through. I am a Christian, God is my refuge as well. As you look to Him, He will guide you. Take care. Patricia P.

I had failed RNY and had it revised to the DS in Aug 2006 but had to go to San Fran w/Dr. Husted. You have a great DS surgeon in Omaha, Dr. Anthone but he won't do RNY revisions the last I heard. It would be worth a try to call him however. It's imperative that you find an experienced, great revision surgeon as it's the most difficult of all surgeries with the highest chances for complications. Please read my profile for more details.

DS is short for duodenal switch. There is a DS forum here on OH. Go to the top of the page and under forums, you'll see main forum, then the next one is the DS forum. You will find many RNY'rs who revise to DS but never a DS'r asking for a revision.
