I have both sleep apnea and a thyroid disorder. I know the sleep apnea counts but I do not know about the thyroid

Sleep apnea is considered a comorbidity, I don't think the thyroid disorder is but it depends on whether or not it is obesity-related...

Good Morning Anna, I have graves disease, which is a form of thyroid disease. At first, I was hyperactive, then I had the radiation surgery and now I'm hypo and will have to take medication for the rest of my life or until they find a cure and I also had sleep apnea. My surgeon and general physician both said that because of these two illnesses plus other things I was a candidate for the wls (gastric bypass) surgery. My insurance is with Anthem (formerly BC/BS) covered my surgery 100% and I was approved on the first go round. My start to finish process has been said to be amazing, in that it took from Feb '08 starting with being tested, preparing, loosing weight, etc, and then I had my surgery in Nov '08. To-date I've lost 67 lbs, which my surgeon is very pleased with because he says I'm loosing it slowly and efficiently this way the weight will stay off, as opposed to loosing an extreme amount and then regaining even more weight than you originally lost. My goal is to loose 100 lbs by Dec 25, which is my birthday so I'm over half way there! So far I'm doing great, I don't have to take anymore blood pressure medicine, I no longer have sleep apnea AND I no longer have my CPAP machine so I sold it. I'm working out 3-4 times a week at CURVES and feeling better and better each day! Good luck to you, please feel free to email or stop by my page I try to share information, tips, etc. StrangePassion XOXO

Yes I think so. It seems like the more they find wrong with you the better chance for approval, at least its that way to me. Good luck.
