Question:
TriCare Prime confuses me....

Ok I've recently moved to California from Oklahoma. While still in Oklahoma I went to a seminar 2 weeks later Tricare standard wouldn't cover it because I wasn't on any medications. Since then I've moved to California and updated to Prime and have a Dr. appt coming up trying to get my referral. I've gained weight since the move because while I was in Oklahoma I was taking diet pills and stopped taking them right around the seminar since I was moving. Is it going to matter if I'm a different weight than a few months ago and switching my insurance to prime that I'll possibly be able to get it? I'm just so confused with Tricare. I think I meet the requirement for the 200% over the ideal weight. wouldn't that be the ideal weight multiplied by 2? sorry for all the questions in one thing haha like I said I'm confused. I just really want to get the surgery and keep reading so much stuff that makes me doubt I'll be able to have it covered now :(    — sarahull826 (posted on July 17, 2010)

Hi, please resubmit. Who is your dr here in California? With Tricare Prime, they will take care of it. Don't worry about the difference from Prime and Standard... Prime definately will take care of you. I have Tricare Prime and they have paid everything except my co-pay ($12 per office visit & $100 for hospital stay). I was a revision with Tricare Prime and the package my surgeon put together took care of all their questions. There was a slight problem but he was able to talk to the person who makes the decision with resubmitting. Just remember, it is like you are under a completely new insurance... the criteria is different. Hope this helps. If you have questions you can message me on this site. Hugs Kathleen
