Question:
Any problems getting approval from UHC recently?

I have United Heathcare PPO and even the surgeons office said they were easy to get approval from. I am just a little curious as to what could happen. So anyone that has had problems or even compliments on UHC approval would be great.    — Jaime Moore (posted on May 3, 2006)

I have UHC EPO and I had no problem getting approved. They had the paperwork and letter from my surgeron since March 27, 06, and I called them once a week to check on it, and to make sure they received the letter. I called on Monday, May 1 and they said I was approved, and they will be paying 100% of the surgery besides the $100 copay for the hospital visit. Good Luck!

I got approval for my RNY from United Healthcare Options PPO yesterday. I was told it could take up to 15 business days for my submitted paperwork to show up in the system. And then once it shows up, they can take 30 business days to respond. My stuff was sent on April 7, it showed up in the system on April 18, and I got "THE" call from my surgeon's office on May 2. I have read of UHC approvals coming much faster than mine did. Good luck, and try not to worry. :-)

No problems at all (except for when they said that they never got my paperwork). After it was resent, approval was quick and easy.

you have to check your personal insurance from your company and check if there are exclusions. Anyone can have the same insurance but if there are exclusions in your particular policy you may not get approved. Good luck :)

I had no problems with UHC as well in regards to getting approved. Their back office is not very efficient. I had to keep calling to check on m acceptance. I waited two weeks after my Dr. sent the letter off to call UHC, and they said they had not got the paperwork. I freaked a bit on that one, and called my Dr's office. Within a week I had my approval. Even after the surgery, checking on claims by phone was a hastle. Using their web site for general info. was much more helpful, than trying to get to the right person by phone.

I have UHC Choice Plus and was denied when my surgeon's office submitted the paperwork. I sent an appeal 2 weeks ago, but they say it's not in their system yet. I will let you know when I hear back from them.

I have uhc ppo and was approved in two weeks. When the say they havent recieve your paper work, they mean they dont see it in the computer because they surgeons office usually call uhc and put in the claim that way. dont work ask them if they approve the surgery costs and go from there.

I work for United Health Care and was also DENIED for the surgery. Appealed their decision 3 times and still denied. Your employer is the one who decides what type of exclusion they put into their insurance coverage. I am actually having surgery on 6-8-2006 (self pay). Look into the dr and hospital to see if you will consider you as a charity case. This is how I am doing it.
