Question:
How do you go about finding a qualified surgeon for VSG?

After reading alot about bariatric surgery, I have decided on the VSG. How do I go about finding a good surgeon. I am in Kansas, and was told there are no surgeons in Kansas that do VSG.    — nedsmehlp (posted on August 12, 2008)

At the top where it says "find a bariatric surgeon" it says there is one that lists VSG. If you are ok with traveling, OK has a great set of surgeons who do the VSG. Also, people rave about Dr. Alvarez in Mexico. I know a lot of people don't want to leave the country, but his prices are great and from what i hear, everything about it is awesome. I know of some people who went to OK and some who went to Mexico, and they all think their surgeon is the best. Have you asked on the VSG forum? Good luck! I love my sleeve! Teresa

I travelled to Dallas from Albuquerque for my VSG in mid-July. Experience was very good and everything seems to be working with no complications. I used Dr. Wade Barker in Dallas whom you can find thru OH like the other reply you received. He has done over 2000 cases about 400/year. I can't say enough good about Vista Hospital in Garland where he performed the surgery. Check him out.
