From my past experience as a women's health nurse, try not to worry anymore today but make sure you call your doc tomorrow with your signs and symptoms. It may just be muscle related or due to meds you are taking. DEFINITELY get it checked out, esp if you have a family history of any type of cancer. A person's problem is best diagnosed by a physical exam and mammogram if needed. Everyone's symptoms are different. The things that we would tell patients to look for would be changes in the way the breast looked i.e. did it all of a sudden appear larger, hang lower, have skin that resembles the texure like the texure of orange rind, looked as if there was puckering as if you were pulling a string up producing the pucker and any changes in the nipples like drainage or it being in instead of out. Your Md should be able to advise you on what how you should follow up.

Hi Jessica, from my experience with numerous problems with my breasts from a bilateral reduction to multiple fluid filled cysts unknown masses and too many lumps to imagine,I have always been told that cancer in the breast doesnt begin with any type of pain except the medical procedures. I have had the blessing of nearly ever test imaginable done on mine and luckily they have all come out excellent. Try not to worry it is probably in your glands. Best of luck to you and check with your doc tomorrow. God Bless and take care. Kimberly

Hi Jessica. Please do have a mammogram. My sister had pain in her breast and ended up with cancer. Thank God she is fine now, but it was a fast growing and aggressive cancer that wasn't there just months before. We found out she had a cancer gene and then myself and my daughter were tested and we also have the gene. Tho your problem is probably more or less menstrual related, Don't ignore it. I have found that after being in perimonopause, that losing 100 lbs has caused me to go back to youthful menstruations. The release of the hormones that were trapped in the fat cells has my body believing its young again...go figure. Best of luck to you. hugs,

Jessica, as a breast cnacer survivor, I can tell you that most of the time if you are having pain, it is NOT cancer. Breast cancer does not ususally hurt. You may have a little infection, or something pulled. Don't panic. Give it a couple of days and if its not better then make an appointment. A few more days won't make any difference with breast cancer if thats what it was. I feel sure you are fine.

With breast cancer you really don't feel pain until the very end. I had breast cancer in 2000 and it was discovered on a routine mammogram. You should see your primary physician and have them do a breast exam and a mammo. Usually pain means you have cysts. Good luck to you! Ana Villa, RN
