Question:
With United Healthcare EPO in MS, what is needed to get approved for wls?

My insurance with United Healthcare EPO in MS will become effective on Feb. 1st and I would like to know how long it usually takes for them to approve you for surgery and also what do they require to get approved. I don't really have any co-morbidities, but I do have a BMI in the 50s. Thanks for any help you can offer me.    — GLAMOURGIRLJ (posted on January 13, 2006)

Hello, I am not sure about what the requirements are for MS, but I have United Healthcare EPO, NJ and it was very easy. The only co-morbidity that I have is diabetes. I completed a psych eval and within 2 weeks I was approved. After I received my approval I decided to change surgeons. I told my case worker of my decision and she told me to let her know the name of the new surgeon. She confirmed that he was a participating doctor and then told me to have him call her. Once the new surgeon spoke with my case worker, I was re-approved the next day. I have no complaints about United Healthcare. I hope you have a smooth and successful ride. New Lease 256/189/150-170(hoping to get there soon :-)
