Question:
if you had lap rny and had/have bcbs of florida?

how long did it take for you to get approved and is there a waiting period before you can schedule surgery when/if you are approved? (i hear some people say they have to go through six months of diet for documentation).    — latreshar (posted on April 24, 2008)

Seems to me they are all taking 6 months for approval. It took me 6 months to be approved for my bypass. They like you to diet for that period of time also.

yes I too had BCBS of Fl and it took me about 1 year of documentaion that I did try other methods of losing weight and what happen I had to see a shrink 3 times and a nutritionist 1 time then after that it was pretty easy alot of hoops to jump through but I sure wish I had done it years ago!!!!!! Just do everything they ask ! I am so happy they helped pay for mine!!! bye for now Shirley

For me it has been a year and half process. I had to do the six month so weight watchers (or something like it) then my insurance company kept asking for more tests so getting them scheduled and done took time especially since most of it was around the holidays. I received my referal to my doctor last may but couldn't even get in to see him until the end of August. So I started my referral phase in May of last year and just got approved March of this year. My surgery is next week Tuesday!!!!
