Question:
Did I make a mistake when I went to my husbands employer to find out info?

I WENT TO MY HUSBAND JOB BECAUSE I COULD NOT TAKE THE SUSPENSE ANY LONGER I ASKED THEM DO THEY COVER GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY THEY CALLED THE INSURANCE CO AND TOLD THEM WHAT I SAID (THEY ACTUALLY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT COVER IT 2WKS AGO. THEY WANTED MY HUSBAND INSURANCE # JUST AS 2WKS AGO DO YOU SUPPOSE THEY ARE KEEPING THIS IN A DATA BASE AND MAY HOLD THIS AGAINST ME. ANYWAY THEY DO COVER IT BUT REFUSED TO ANSWER THE QUESTION BUT KEPT SAYING IT MUST BE REVIEWED AND THE DRILL YOU ALL KNOW.    — TANGIE B. (posted on August 25, 2000)

I don't think you made a mistake. But, now that you know it is covered, just go through the drill. See the doctor and/or surgeon, they will submit the request to your insurance company. If they cover it, it will be approved. Relax. Best wishes.

No, it was not a mistake. Hang in there. Remember that most insurance companies are not going to be openly for WLS. Just be firm, and very, very, very persistent when deealing with them. They are hoping you'll forget and go away..........

I think you did the right thing. Because my husband has BCBS with his job. And I went to one doctor and the insurance would'nt cover or pay for the surgery. But then I so happen went to another doctor they sent of their letter to the same BCBS insurance company and they approved me. Same company different doctors so maybe you should try another doctor. But don't give up I'm only waiting for my date for sometime next month. So just hang in there. 9-11-00
