I have BC/BS Empire PPO and they are truely WONDERFUL! I was approved in 24 hours with my surgery date and length of stay. I had no problems whatsoever. Even with scheduling for my psych eval they were again, GREAT! Good luck and best wishes!!!

When I had my surgery I lived in PA and was approved within a week with Aetna HMO without any problems. Now about 16 months later they did not approve any plastic/reconstructive surgery sad to say! Good Luck whichever one you choose.

Something else I wanted to add...If you know what surgeon and/or hospital you'd like to use - Check and make sure on which ins. plan they are included on. Since I used a preferred provider for my surgeon and hospital, my hospital bill was only $100.00 co-pay instead of the $30,000 billed to the insurance. There are some truly wonderful and gifted WL surgeons in Pittsburgh. Good luck and God Bless!

I live in PA, but had surgery in Newark, NJ. I have Aetna HMO and was approved in less than 2 weeks no problem. I was at BMI of 43 and no co-morbs. Also had no dr supervised diet history. Seems that Aetna must be pretty easy to get approved through.
