Hi, I cant tell what state you are in BUT Florida does IF you have Staywell. I have Medicaid and had to change from Straight Medicaid to Staywell during open enrollment. I was already doing my monthly Dr's visit with my Family Dr. [pcp] . I had done my research and saw a Surgeon to find out what was the procedure to get an approval from the ins. I took all the info back to my pcp and we started to do all the tests that needed to be done. By having all the need things done it took my surg Dr ONLY a few weeks to get the OK! I am having my surg next week. Please dont give up! If this is what you need & want stick with it. If I can help you PLEASE feel free to email me [email protected] Best of luck and I will keep you in my prayers.

NY state does. In your search engine, type in your state and gastric bypass medicaid, see what you can find

I can't speak for every state but i got mine paid for by medicaid but it took nine months of hospital stay to do it here in wyoming but it was well worth the wait. As long as you can find a doctor that will recommend it being medically necessary they should more than likely pay for it. It just takes time to fullfill all of the requirements they ask for and because it's a government agency it tends to take a little longer.

I know that the state of IN does but there is different forms of Medicaid I think. I am not sure if there is only certain ones that pay or if they all do. Just keep searching because the surgery is so worth the hoops you have to go through with any form of insurance. You are in my prayres.

I live in OK and medicaid will pay if surgery is medically necessary and you have a referal. I have medicare and medicaid and The Lord blessed me with about $500 dollars out of pocket expenses for surgery plus cost of food for diet. Every case will be different of course. I wish you the best of LUCK. I will pray for you and your journey with WLS. Best Wishes, Leslie

I was approved by Medicaid with Paramount Advantage as my Managed Care Provider (MCP) through the state of Ohio. They covered everything and I only had high blood pressure mainly.

Yes medicare and medicaid pay, in order to get matching federal funds, all these plans are required to pay for obesity surgery when medically necessary. The catch is that it usually takes longer to get approved. On my doctors website he states that there is a waiting list and a significant wait for surgery for medicare and medicaid patients.
