Question:
Pro-Bono? Do any surgeons help those in poverty with no insurance?

My daughter is homeless & obese. Her weight has been a problem all of her life. She is a beautiful 29 year old woman that feels she has no future.    — Teresa W. (posted on November 1, 2009)

Hi Teresa, Has your daughter applied for Medicaid where she lives? In Fl. Wellcare a form of medicaid does in fact cover the surgery. You have to follow there rules and have a yr of doctor documented following and several other tests done..but I was all worth it. Iam 15months out and lost 135lbs so far. Best of luck!

I did find that there are surgeons that do charity surgeries but there is a waiting list and can take a long time to get in for it. I agree w/the medicaid thought. It's what i had to do. i had surgery finally in may and i'm down 100 lbs as of yesterday. there are resources out there you just have to look and work hard for them.
