Question:
has anyone heard of of a "tune-up" procedure for 1200 dollars ?

I had RNY on March 2004, I have gained back 40 pounds over the last six months. Talked to my doctor in Texas, and they said I can get a procedure that will "tighten" the opening that leads to the intestine. It almost sounds to good to be true. Has anyone else had this done? thanks    — clovis911 (posted on February 16, 2009)

That would be a revision. It is fairly simple and a lot of people have it done after several years. It really seems to help.

I've heard that my surgeon does a procedure that sounds similar to this and I believe he calls it the Rose procedure. I haven't had it done, not do I know anyone who has. Hope if someone has that they answer your question for you.

See if you qualify for the ROSE procedure (Restorative Obesity Surgery, Endoscopic. I know the requirements are you have to have had gastic bypass surgery no less than 2 years ago. You had to have successfully lost weight (there is a percentage, I'm not sure what the number is) and you had to have gained back at least 50% of that weight lost. It's a very simple procedure, done endoscopically (a tube inserted down your throat), and usually requires no overnight hospitalization. If you had an upper endoscopy as part of your pre-op testing, it's very similiar to that. Do a Google search for the ROSE procedure and I'm sure you will find answers to any question you may have. By the way, if you watch the show "The Doctors" (10 pm EST), there was a special on it last week. I don't no anything about $1200. It is supposed to be a lot cheaper than a revision (and much much safer). Good luck, maybe this is the little extra help you need to get back on track.

I hope I explained that right, your surgery had to be over 2 years ago.

The other poster was right about the TV show "The Doctors". A surgeon from San Diego has a new instrument called a "stomaphyx". You can google it and you'll get the website . I have sent for some free info. Hope this helps.

I had the Rose procedure done on Dec 30th 2008 and I have lost 15 lbs so far I haven;t weighed yet this week. It is very easy no incisions no pain I went back to work the next day. They tacked up my anastamosis. I can now eat 1/4-1/2 cup of food depending on the consistency. Just go on line you can find lots of stuff about it. i am happy I did it I have 5 more pounds to my goal weight. I had RNY April 26,2004.
