Double check with your surgeon and confirm that you can't add ANY kind of flavoring...mine stresses the importance of fluids, not that it's water specifically. Also, try buying some of those small (3 oz) bathroom cups - try to finish one every 45 minutes or so. Maybe by making the cup smaller, it won't seem as daunting as a huge bottle? Good luck!

WHY can not it be crystal light, kool aid, broth, jello. All of these are liquids so unless u have some medical issues, you don't need to drink only water. I myself don't like plain water, so I use the mixes.

After all these years of struggling with water, someone got me a case of the 8 oz water bottles. I know it's really silly, but they stay cold (my preference) and I can easily get down 8-10 of these a day now, because they stay cold. And I don't feel intimidated by these cute pudgy lil bottles.

The above are all great ideas-a few others are the flavored waters - Nestle makes some good ones. Another is to get some medicine cups and fill each with your water- drink one cup every 5-10 min. If you drink 8 of those in a 40-45 min time period you have taken in 1 of your 8 cups of fluid for that day. I am told the hospital I will go to for my surgery the nurses line up the medicine cups every waking hour so that you don't become dehydrated. Another source of fluid is sugar free popsicles and jello.

Hello I got my surgery don about 4 days after you. I am alot to drink tea with sweeterner , Juice with water , Gaterode, dieat Snappel ( is really good) , I am not a water drinker at all and can't get it down at last if i am not tursty and since my surgery i am not really thursty. So try all the other stuff. Aslong you drink no Pop you should be fine. Don't add no sugar but you can drink stuff with sweetener , or Gaterade.

Although the goal is to drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water a day, at only 2 weeks out I was lucjy if I could do 48 ounces a day. It took me time to build up to 64. I write down everything throughout the day, and now I find that without even being aware I am able to drink an average of 70-75 ounces a day. Just try to get in as much as you can and slowly build up the quantity. Remember, your body is still adjusting to all of the changes!

I know that al Drs. are different but mine stresses fluids. They consider anything that melts at room temp to be a liquid. SF Jello, Popsilcle, SF Pudding and SF Yogurt. Check with your Dietitian to see if any of these are Acceptable. Connie
