Does anyone know what reasonal and customary charges are?

Does anyone know what the insurance companies consider to be "reasonable & customary" charges for the RNY surgery? I am trying to get an idea of the cost for the surgery but can't get anyone to give me a figure.    — TERRI W. (posted on February 11, 2003)

The "reasonable and customary" charges can vary from city to city and state to state. What is usually considered R&C is the "average" of claims submitted for the same type of surgery. So, unfortunately, there is not a set $$ that is considered R&C.
