Question:
Has anyone is MS had any luck getting through red tape with Medicaid for surgery

Hi from washington and I know in 2005 I was trying for the surgery and they have alot of hoops to jump through I would call your local office number on back of your medical coupon and ask their requirements it has covered my friends but as I said alot of hoops, I got ill surgery put off then I got medicare and right away was accepted with nothing to qualifie for besides regular test best of luck Tammi

When you have just Medicaid, you will need to go through a lot to get the surgery. My sister had only medicaid and it was 2 1/2 years before she was able to get her bypass done. Her husband had Medicare and Medicaid, I had just Medicare and neither of us had problems getting approved. I think having Medicare made the difference since we met their qualifications of being obese with co-moridities. I was told to prepare myself and get through all of my pre-op appointments because they knew before submitting my case to Medicare that I already qualified and it was just a matter of paperwork being submitted annd processed. My bro-in-law and I both got in pretty quickly. He chose to wait until after the holidays that year but I went in before them because I did not want to gorge myself with food any longer. He had to pay nothing out of pocket since he also had the Medicaid, I had to pay something out of pocket but it was worth it!
