Question:
BCBS and VSG

Has anyone ever had BC/BS pay for a VSG? I can only find references for denials. I specifically have Mountain State BC/BS but would be interested to know if anyone has had success or failures in getting them to cover the surgery. Thanks in advance- Amy    — Jung (posted on June 13, 2009)

I am presently going through appeals process for my VSG done September '08. So mine is neither a success or failure at this point.

Hi Amy, I was denied for VSG thru BC/BS of Il, I did apeal but was denied again, so I am now doing the RNY.

I had VSG done July 22nd. 08 and I have BCBS of PA. they did a remarkable job and covered it all, the only thing I had to do was 6 months supervised diet with Nut. I am so glad its all behind me and down 110 pounds...good luck to you and keep us posted.

BCBS denied my request for VSG, I am in the appeal process now. I pray I am approved. Anyone have any idea on how long the appeal process can take? THANKS
