I understand that a lot of people's hair does thin out to various degrees, unusally 3-6 months out, but that it comes back! I was fortunate, mine did not; don't know why not, but was grateful.

I am 2 years and 2 mths out and I lost alot of my hair by 1 year out. It is still growing back. But the key is IT IS GROWING BACK. I was very hard my hair came out so fast and go sooooo thin. But as upset as I was I still would do it all over again to lose all the weight I have lost. I went from 356Lbs to 178 Lbs and feel great. You will be ok! Try not to get to upset with it. Hair will grow back! =) Good Luck hun!

I had long thick hair pre-op. My hair starting falling out by the handfuls 3 months post op and thinned to the point that people were asking my family if I had cancer until about 9 months post op. I started taking Biotin and washing my hair with Nexius as soon as it started falling out. I am a few days from being a year post op. It has starting to grow back, but I hate that I lost so much of it. It was a very heartbreaking emotional part of my journey.

I too lost a lot of hair. This was something I had not even thought about before the bypass. My Dr's RN put me on 5000mg of Biotin twice a day for 6 months, now I take one every day. My hair stopped falling out and is now coming back curly. Knowing what I know now, I would suggest people start taking Biotin before surgery and for long after.

You must have your required protein daily and I take biotin, I hardly lost any hair. Protein and biotin is the key !!! Good luck
