Question:
Does anyone know how long Aetna POS Openchoice takes for appoval.

After you completed the 3 months of Nuturition & pre surgical clearances? Worried they won't approve. My BMI is 41 and I have no co-morbidities. Thanks for the help.    — twinsplusone (posted on July 30, 2008)

i have an Aetna EPO and they approved. i am a BMI of 41-42 and no weight related illness such as diabetes etc. I did my 3 month class and letters and had no problem! i was banded on 7/22.

It took a week for me to be approved from Aetna, I did have a BMI of 69, sleep apnea and GERD. Good luck and I'm praying that you hear good results. Debi

I called my insurance company to ask for the specific policy in writing that shows what will be accepted. They had a website with the different documents that I could read. The representative went over the requirements with me. I also had no comorbidites. I found out that according to my insurance and their requirements I didnt need to have any as long as I had a BMI of over 40. If I had a BMI of 35 I would of had to have comorbidites. Call your insurance that will put your mind at rest while waiting. ;)
