Question:
If anyone in South Carolina has had Cigna as insurance and waiting on RNY approval.

Is it hard to get approval from this insurance provider. I would like to get as much feedback as I can. I have one more month of my supervised diet before they submit me for approval. I am really scared that I won't get approve. Since my BMI is the only thing that I have and no additional problems. But I have been struggling with my weight for the last 10 years. I have Cigna and live in NJ. I applied 4 years ago and was rejected even after appealing. Persistence lead me to the Cigna website where I found their list of doctors approved for the procedure (RNY). After seeing one of their recommended doctors, he gave me a packet to fill out with all the required info for them. And, bingo, I got approved and had the surgery last summer. He wasn't the greatest doctor in the world but I felt that was the only way they would pay for it. Good luck, you're gonna need it.
