Question:
Can I have DS or RNY after Molina band (1988) removal?

I had WLS in 1988. I had the Molina band. I lost around 100# and kept it off pretty much. I had to have it removed in March 2010 and the doctor was supposed to do a VSG. Unfortunately, my stomach had hardened due to restriction but the doctor said in six months to a year I could consider RNY. I have moved to Alabama and have contacted a bariatric specialists and I am being told that this cannot be done. Anyone have the Molina band and had a successful DS or RNY?    — Jo R. I had Molina band in '86, not sure if mine was different from yours, as I've been told he had at least two versions of this band. I had RNY by Dr. St. Laurent here in Houston, he had to remove a huge portion of my stomach due to the absorption, but other than that I've not had any problems....He has taken care of alot of Molina's patients. I've contacted the dr. whose has taken over Molina's practice, they were NOT helpful what-so-ever. If you have any questions, please send me a message via by prfile, I'd be glad to offer any help I can! Good luck to you!
