Question:
Does this look like an approval?

I found the following on my claim center of my insurance web page of my claim center.Does it sound like an approval My Inpatient Authorizations These are the inpatient authorizations for the last 18 months. Data is updated nightly. Approvals may be subject to network/non-network benefits. For clarification, please call your Customer Service Center listed on the back of your ID card. Payment for authorization services is subject to the member's benefit limitations and contract exclusions, and dependent upon the member's eligibility at the time of service. Everytime I've been approved for surgery they send out these "authorization is not a quarantee of payment". This is a "CYA" letter. At least that is what a lawyer told me once.

I do insurance billing and authorizations. This looks like the letters I receive all the time. One thing you always need to look for is the Authorization number. You have one!!!!! so I would say yes this is your approval, but you should call your insurance to find out for sure. Well I called Neweigh today and they called Humana and yes it is an approval. An hour later an Humana rep called me and wanted to get some info from me so that they can get my medical history to make sure everything I put on my application was true and correct. Now Neweigh is saying that this is a stall tatic because they do this when they write the policy. The last time I went to the doc on a reguler basis was when I was pregnant from 2003-til the birth in feb. 2004.I do not understand why they would approve if they wanted to check my medical background. The humana rep did say they mailed me out an approval letter though but they have a provisonal right to check all my medical history.Teesha
