Clear liquids........water, crystal lite, jello, sugar free kool-aid, sugar free popcycles, broth, etc.. After you can eat all foods, you are still restricted to no sugars, low carbs, low fats, no carb drinks, no gum until about 3 months out, no caffeine until about 3 months out, no liquor.

I don;t think your crazy at all.. in fact the ame idea went thru my head before I had surgery.. I said today is my surgery day. Anyway... I drank a lot of crystal light ice tea.. chicken broth (low sodium) grape juice dulited with water (50-50) make sure you find some protein powder to stir in to that kind of stuff ( beneprotein, you can get it at a hospital phramcey, has no taste in it at all) then I think maybe the second week I had creamed soups.. cream potato was my favorite after you cook it with skim milk I had to drain it in a drainer to remove the potato chunks, cream of onion was another of my favs (made by campbells) oatmeal ate a lot of that. Hope that helps... let me know how it goes! Kim

PS... how could I have forgotten? Carniation instant breaks, no added sugar, vanilla and chocolate with skim milk and protein powder that was my main staple for the first 2 weeks! Good luck! Kim

My doctor said to drink caffine because it gives you energy. I drink tea, diet coke (w/Splenda) let it sit in your mouth for a minute before swallowing. I eat Cream of Wheat/Rice, Cream of Chicken/Mushroom/Potato. I mash the potatos with a fork and add a little canned chicken. MUST eat slow and CHEW very very well. I am 8 days post op, feeling great and losing weight, 17lbs in 8days. I try to stay with foods I would eat if I were sick. Things that are easy on the stomach. I try two teaspoons and wait about 5 min to see If my body will tolerate it then continue slowly.
