Question:
Question""""

I am fat. I will always be fat. I have done whatever hoops I have had to jump. Please know that this is not a cure. Only our higher power can help us. Just know I will meet you in the hereafter.    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on January 31, 2007)

Dear CW- It sounds like you are having a very rough time. We have all been there at one time or another, although when you are the one in the middle of that rough patch it seems like you are the only one. Remember, the Lord doesn't allow us to be tried any more than the amount of strenght He will give us to see us through the dark valley. I will pray for you- feel free to email me and we can talk. May the Lord give you a sense of calm, peace and strength today. Donna

ok. So what's your question? We all know that this isn't a cure, only a tool. Those who think it IS a cure need to re-evaulate their reasons for having the surgery and are already setting themselves up for failure. I will always be a fat person.. in my head. The difference in being a fat person on the outside is that I must make a conscious decision to not be the person I was before. I keep a photo of me at my heaviest in places where my willpower might be questioned.. ie the refridgerator door, and also on the mirror in the bathroom as an incentive device. This proceedure is what you make of it. Remember that. If you are having depression issues because of it, see someone. Posting crypic messages on a message board don't solve your problem.

CW you didn't leave any way to talk with anyone. I feel like I am talking to the air. You indicate depression, you indicate the possibility of ending your life, you are either asking for help or screaming for attention. Either way, I hope you seek out help. Obesity is a tough thing. All of us fat, we will always be fat, atleast in our heads. Obesity, in my opinion is a head issue with a body consequence. I am sorry for your pain, and you are truly right, this is not a cure for obesity, it is only a tool. Regarding your "higher power", the only way I know to meet anyone in the "hereafter" is God's way. God provided His Son, Jesus Christ, who lived on earth, was born of a virgin, and died for my sin, and was raised from the dead to provide for my salvation from sin and gave me eternal life. If you are speaking of this, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, then you are correct, you will see me in the hereafter. However, if you are a born again Christian, you also have the power to overcome your "feelings" now. God did not leave us without His strength, God left us with the comfort of the Holy Spirit and His Word to walk through each day. Don't overlook this in your life if you are a born again Christian. If you are not, and desire more information, just let me know. Take care, Patricia P

I believe that too about our higher power God but he has given these doctor's the knowledge to help us using WLS as a tool not a cure to obesity. I think that anyone who has this surgery and does not figure out the things that may trigger overeating such as cravings and changing their eating habits is in for a rude awakening because you can gain back the weight and end up where you started from the beginning. The surgery is the tool to help you to lose the excess weight but after that you have to make changes to maintain a healthy weight. My biggest challanges have been staying away from sweets because I don't dump, not getting enough exercise and emotional eating but I will not give up on myself and neither should you! Whether you are thin or fat God stills love us all but he wants us to have a good quality life and being fat sometimes creates barriers whether it be from other people or us hiding within ourselves. When I weighed 373 I drank heavily because I would become more outgoing and I didn't allow my weight to get in the way when I was intoxicated but it also made me do things that I would have never done sober which wasn't so good. I hope we do meet in the hearafter but I hope you have many more years of living before this occurs. Take care of yourself and God bless. Prycey Lady RNY 2/2/05

I'm fat right now, but I'm not gonna say I'll stay fat. I believe the higher power (Jesus) gives everyone a hope that wants it. The bible says to do all we can do than stand still and wait on God. I believe that giving up and talking negative is calling God a liar and I don't limit nothing through him. And I know he has sent this tool to help us live up to our part. But you still have to do yours. I hope this helps in some way. Lid
